gPodder 2.11 in Extras-Testing fixes YouTube downloads

A new version of gPodder is out. If you are having problems with YouTube downloads recently, this release is for you. There are also some other minor changes and fixes (detailed changelog for gPodder 2.11). No translation updates or major new features, though. Grab the new package from Extras-Testing. The usual disclaimers apply. If you can, please test and vote for gPodder 2.11-1 in Extras-Testing, so other users can enjoy the fixes as soon as possible.

As always, a new Diablo package has also been uploaded and should be available in Diablo Extras for all N8x0 users soon.

BenderConverter, come scaricare e convertire i video di YouTube e non solo, il tutto online

BenderConverter è un ottimo servizio web che ci permette, in un modo assolutamente facile e sbrigativo, di convertire un qualunque video presente, ad esempio, su YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Twitvid, MySpace, Facebook, Metacafe, Blip.tv, Break e simili, in un formato compatibile con iPhone/iPod, o ancora in file tipo MP3, AVI, MOV, 3GP, FLV, WMV, etc.
Il funzionamento è molto semplice,

basta inserire l'URL del filmato da convertire nell' apposito tab, scegliere il formato e fare clic su "convert".
Alla fine del processo di conversione, la cui durata dipende dalla "grandezza" del file, possiamo procedere con il download.

MacTubes, scaricare i filmati da YouTube su Mac

MacTubes è un software freeware che ci permette di visualizzare e scaricare i filmati da YouTube.
Basterebbero queste due righe per descrivere esattamente cosa è MacTubes, ma il programma merita assolutamente qualche parolina in più.
Una volta scaricato e lanciato ci troveremo davanti l'interfaccia principale, bella, semplice e altrettanto completa, in perfetto stile Mac.

Nella casella in alto a destra possiamo effettuare le nostre ricerche, con i tab in alto a sinistra possiamo selezionare la visualizzazione a griglia o ad elenco, cliccando sul + in basso a sinistra possiamo scegliere le categorie di ricerca, creare playlist e nuove cartelle mentre il tab "i", in alto al centro, ci fornisce le informazioni riguardanti i video.

Facendo doppio clic su un filmato, questo verrà aperto in una nuova finestrella in cui lo possiamo visualizzare in tutti i formati disponibili oppure scaricarlo, che è poi l'operazione che più ci interessa, in formato FLV, MP4 o HD (se disponibile il video).

Ovviamente accedendo alle preferenze di MacTubes, dalla barra dei menu, possiamo configurare svariati parametri, come la posizione in cui verranno scaricati i video, il colore dell'interfaccia e altro ancora.
Insomma questo è uno di quei programmi da avere assolutamente.

True mobile YouTube experience now available on Helio

Helio (Helio, a MVNO joint venture between South Korea’s SK Telecom and Earthlink) has taken the mobile YouTube experience to the next level. This innovative application offers people even more customization and provides them with instant access to interact with the YouTube community whenever and wherever they go..

This new application is much better than Google’s YouTube mobile site at m.youtube.com, as it allows its users to view YouTube videos, rate and comment upon them and upload newly recorded videos as well. Users will be able to share favorite videos with friends in the phone’s contact list or to add a video to their list of Favorites and create new video playlists. Uploaded videos can be given a title, description, tags, category and be set to public or private. Only Helio allows members to also geo-tag video uploads from their mobile device. Using Ocean's built-in GPS capabilities, members can send GPS coordinates with their video to track where they were when everything went down.

The application doesn't cost extra. You just need a Helio Ocean. There aren't that many Helio phones out there overall, about 140,000 as of the third quarter of this year. But with free features like optimized YouTube and MySpace applications and Buddy Beacon, the GPS friend finder, Helio is making good on its promise to turn the mobile phone into something more.

Designed to easily browse, search and view millions of YouTube videos, Helio's YouTube application also offers a simply organized interface where members can access their own video feeds including My Subscriptions, My Favorites, My Playlists, My Videos and Received Videos. Members can also check out YouTube videos in traditional categories like Most Viewed, Most Recent, Top Rated and Recently Featured.
