Licitação Burrocratica e a Bravata do presidente

Mais uma bravata do
nosso querido presidente

Get Your Phone SMS Back

Normally you can't recover the deleted SMS from mobile phones . There are some mobile softwares that can recover these messages automatically .But most of these softwares are payed. So here I am posting an easy and free method to recover deleted SMS from a mobile phone .

I have personally tested this method and recovered few deleted SMS from my Nokia N73(S60 V30). And there are reports about this method working on N72 and s60 v2 mobile phones . .So I am sure that this method will work on Nokia mobile phones . Others can also give a try for this method .

For this you need a freeware mobile software called Fexplorer . It is used to explore the internal files and folders of a Symbian mobile phone .

After download , explore to to your phone memory(usually C) and select System and then mail .

Here you would see few folders like 00001001_S or similar ones. There should be some similar files inside these folders . These are actually the deleted SMS messages . Recovery software actually collects these messages . You can open these SMS by using notepad or other text viewing applications .

Increse Airtel GPRS Speed

This trick is about how to increase the speed of airtel dsl DNS servers so that we experience increased speed in gprs and airtel broadband connections.since sometimes it tooks about 4 seconds for a query or it gets timed up due to the overload of the airtel server.

Alternate DNS Server: 208.67.220.220

HOW TO DO THIS:

1. Click on Start button > Settings > Control Pannel> Network Connections
2. Right click on YOUR "airtel dialup connection" or your Internet connection,
Click on Properties button.
3. iN general TAB, Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
4. Click on Properties button and Look for Preferred DNS Server:
5. Enter the following values there,
- 208.67.222.222
- 208.67.220.220
AND KEEP....OBTAIN IP ADDRESS AS AUTOMATIC.

Emulating multi-touch using two tablets

Kaj Grönholm's post about multi-touch motivated me to implement my previous idea of using two tablets to emulate multi-touch input (which should allow for 2 "real" multi-touch cursors). So, I quickly hacked together a modified version of the SimpleSimulator from TUIO_CPP and loaded it on a N800 and a N810. The result works quite well: (link to the video)

Again, the multitouch version of NumptyPhysics uses two cursors for dragging and three cursors for deleting, which works nicely on a multitouch table. Oh, and if you crank up the volume on that video, you will hear the sounds that we have added to NumptyPhysics recently in order to give some audible feedback about the user actions. Stay tuned for more in a few days.

How Mobile banking will make the Soccer Worldcup a more enjoyable experience

This is a billboard that shows how FNB mobile banking will make the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa more enjoyable. As can be seen, it is now possible to win a Kuduzela if you use FNB mobile banking to buy airtime!

At this time, it is required to give some background information. Soccer supporters in South Africa have a unique custom. During soccer matches they blow on an indigenous "trumpet" called a Vuvuzela all the time. This single-note, noise generator creates an almost unbearable din. Some people have described this experience as similar to putting your head in a bee-hive. Enter the Kuduzela (a new kind of trumpet - shaped like the horns of one of the biggest antelopes in Africa, a Kudu). This trumpet generates a milder sound, much more bearable to the untrained ear. If it is possible to replace Vuvuzelas with Kuduzelas before 2010, we are guaranteed of a much more enjoyable World Cup.

And mobile banking is making this possible.

Mobile banking celebrates their tenth birthday this year.

It is not clear where mobile banking was invented as one can find a number of candidates. What is clear is that the first deployments all were started during 1999.

We at Fundamo developed our solution during the late 1990's and lodged our first patents early in 2000. Our technology were (even then) based on SIM card security, which was quite forward looking as most phones could not even send and/or receive SMS's. The intention of our invention was to find a way to replace payment systems and some of the first applications that we experimented with, was the use of mobile payments in a retail environment.

This was similar to the guys at paybox, who launched their solutions in Germany during about the same time. The intention was to deploy an alternative payment system for retail purchases. Their solution utilised IVR to capture a PIN (much less secure, but then who needed security in Germany?). The solution evolved to also be used in taxi's and for "card not present" solutions.

I think that Smartmoney (launched during 2000) was specifically designed to augment functionality of pre-paid credit cards. The phone could be used to "top-up" the card and to see the remaining balance. I never had an opportunity to talk to people working on this product in the early days, so this is purely assumptions. Smartmoney was also based on a SIM application.

We will be hosting a dinner for a selection of people that were involved with Fundamo during that time to celebrate the tenth birthday during October. We came a long way and it was an amazing journey, but we have not yet arrived.

The Nokia E71 is an ultra thin smartphone with QWERTY keybaord. It is a quad-band GSM with WCDMA 3G and HSDPA support. The E71 features a 2.36-inch QVGA LCD display, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with video recording, WiFi 802.11g, GPS and A-GPS navigation and Bluetooth with A2DP support. It comes with 110MB built-in memory and supports MicroSD up to 8GB.

The Nokia E71 is among the best-equipped Nokia smartphones to-date. It's quick and responsive and carries a remarkable feature load for its compact size. Connectivity is at its highest with the Nokia E71 boasting every single connectivity option, which is currently available. Add the GPS receiver and the slim metallic design and you've got yourself a smartphone that walks and talks high-end.

Nokia E71 however is in for some tough BlackBerry competition. The Bold 9000 seems like a nice alternative having almost the same feature pack as the Nokia. BlackBerry's proprietary OS is not as widespread as the Symbian S60 but the business applications are all there, so the target audience won't feel deprived. The Bold also has a screen of much higher-resolution than the E71, but then, size is worth a thought.

Nokia introduces Nokia E66 slide style smartphone for business users. Like the E71, it is also a quad-band GSM phone with HSDPA and WCDMA 3G.

It features a 2.4-inch QVGA LCD display, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash, a front camera for video calls, integrated music player, and up to 110MB internal storage.

The E66 supports WiFi 802.11b/g, GPS and A-GPS for navigation and Bluetooth connectivity, in addition to its cellular support. It supports also microSD card up to 8GB.

Screening the market for a worthy alternative of Nokia E66, we almost instantly stumble upon Samsung i550w. It has almost the same specs as the Nokia, comes with a larger screen and costs less. Now, all that doesn't make your choice any easier. Nokia E66 has much better build quality and looks so much hotter.

The software goodies are also noteworthy: E66 has some extras that are normally only available to Feature pack 2 (and even some that are Eseries exclusive like the dual homescreen modes).

BlackBerry and their Pearl series are also trying to pressure Nokia E66 but at this stage they don't seem to have the ultimate challenger. It's either 3G or GPS, or some other important feature missing, to relegate RIM's devices to a lower league.

Nokia E63 from its design, at glance, is really looks like with Nokia E71.Nokia E63 has camera 2 megapixel and complete with touch sensitive navigation wheel and audio jack connection 3.5 mm.
The Nokia E63 colors offered is red maroon and blue Navy.

Nokia E63 is the next QWERTY messenger by Nokia, set on the glorious path of the E71. Only this time it slips off the high heels to walk it in plain straight and simple boots instead. And the matching price tag leaves little doubt of what this Working Joe here is all about.

Nokia E63 features a 2.36-inch 320×240 QVGA display, built-in 2 Megapixel camera with digital zoom and LED flash, full QWERTY keyboard, support for WiFi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 and support for WCDMA 3G 900/2100 or 850/1900 or 850/2100, quad-band GSM networks.

At the MWC several month ago Nokia E75 has been announced along with Nokia E55. And now Indonesia has been choosen to be the first country sell Nokia E75.
This communicator was mentioned to replace the Nokia 9300 Mini Communicator with the new ability of email client and Nokia messaging.
The operating system used by E75 is Symbian S60 and runs Nokia Mini Map and GPS Nokia Maps.
The E75 has adopted 3G network and completed with camera 3.2 megapixel autofocus.

The major novelty of the Nokia E75 is the form factor and we're about to see if this is enough for it to carve a niche out for itself in a crowded market.
There's no denying that if a side-sliding QWERTY is good enough for a teenage-targeted music phone (the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic), it must be more than at home in a full-featured business phone. Welcome to the Nokia E75.

Dollar / Euro

Etonnant!

Existing banking systems are too old for mobile banking.

If we know, we tend to forget this, and if we are ignorant, we would never believe it: but banking is actually not real time. What you see is not necessarily what is, nor is it what you may get. Listen to what Bill Streeter say in a recent article in the ABA Banking Journal:

"On the other hand, if you define real time as handling any transaction at any channel only once, at which point final posting occurs, then very few U.S. institutions are doing that..... Real time was also the norm for years with savings and loans and credit unions, and still is in some cases, though the movement to check-based transactions changed things for many of these institutions."

The rest of the article is a great read about the state of real-time-ness in banking and how difficult it is to turn existing banks into real time machines. Or to quote from the article: “Changing core systems is not for the faint of heart,”

Which made me think: why do we want to put mobile banking and payment solutions on top of old banking systems? The whole idea of using a mobile phone for banking is that I can do stuff in real-time. I mean, can you imagine having a telephone call in batch? Phones are made (and consumers expect them to be) real-time devices. It is just absolutely crazy to plug a mobile phone into a system that does not work in real-time.

In order to bring the true benefit of mobile banking, we will have to re-define banking from the ground up. The banking systems that should sit underneath mobile banking should be designed in a different (more modern view). If a transaction happens we post a debit and a credit and it is done (simple). If we have to reverse the transaction, we post a credit and a debit. This is not so difficult. This means that mobile banking (in many cases) would initially be a separate system.

Once again, this is not so far-fetched. Banks did it when they launched credit card systems a few decades ago, and it seemed to work pretty well. Why should we not do it with mobile payment systems. Just a thought...

MoBank's features not good enough

The problem with the architecture of the new UK mobile banking provider Mobank (www.mobank.co.uk ) is that it is based on the UK banking infrastructure. Because it is offering banking services on a realtime device, the service amplifies the shortcomings of the UK banking infrastructure. Michael, one of my friends, enrolled for the service, and linked up his debit card and added his online banking details recently. He told me that he was instantly dissatisfied as the service did not meet his expectations of a mobile banking service.

Some of the things that he was unhappy with, were:

  1. The fact that the service did not provide real-time information

  2. The limitations in terms of payment options (could not move funds to another bank account, or move funds to another telephone number, for instance)
  3. The security paradigm. A lot of information was required in order to enroll (CVV number, all his existing banks Internet logon service). What MoBank were doing with all this info was not clear. A subscriber must feel uncertain with offering all this info and Mobank suddenly becomes a target for fraudulent attacks. The service also lacks dual-factor authentication.
  4. The iPhone application was also poorly executed, with (for instance) text being able to be entered into numeric fields.
Even though the service was quite expensive (50 p per transaction and £1 per month for balance enquiries), Michael was quite prepared to pay for a service that lived up to his expectations. He said that he read MoBank's literature and was prepared for a revolution - what he got did not qualify as such.
