Suri's Burn Book

Yesterday, my friend Doro changed my life by sending me the link to Suri's Burn Book.  Many of you are aware of my long-standing obsession with celebritot Suri Cruise . . . and now it's reached a whole new level.

Suri's Burn Book is a tumblr account in which Suri posts pictures of celebs & their kids and comments on them.  And makes fun of her parents, Tom and Katie.  And OMFG is she hilarious.  Exempli gratia:

August 18, 2011

While we’re on the subject of famous Swedes, here is a photo of Elin Nordegren and her two children, Sam and Charlie. This family has become kind of reclusive post-Tiger, but they were recently seen out and about in Miami.
I am disappointed that Sam and I missed each other on our Miami vacations, because I completely approve of her fashion choices—from that fun headband to that slimming belt!—and would have loved to have her over for tea. We also would have a lot to talk about, like having embarrassing fathers and the challenges of having moms who wear denim.

HAHA!  Embarrassing fathers and the challenges of having moms who wear denim!!!  Suffice to say I spent quite a bit of time yesterday browsing Suri's files, and will continue to do so via her tumblr and twitter.  I suggest you do the same.

Happy Friday!

Hate to say I TOLD YOU SO

Cause I swear I really do have a soft spot for Brit Brit, buttttttt

remember when I wrote this post about how she was a copycat?  Well looks like the Bellamy Brothers agree, cause they're suing her plagiarizing ass:

Brit, I love you, but I hate plagiarists.  I've already accepted that you're never gonna actually write your own songs, but at least keep your songwriters in check.  Stealing ain't cool, especially when it comes to creative material!

p.s. I promise a post about my trip to NYC tomorrow with lots of pics!

Kids Growin' Up Too Fast

And no, I'm not talking about teen pregnancy.  But speaking of which, we might have to talk about Teen Mom 2 soon.  I never thought I'd fall quite that low in my television habits, but it turns out working 60 hours a week makes you want to come home and do all kinds of crazy things (drink 40's of Blue Moon, watch Teen Mom 2, spend your remaining hours in a snuggie).  None of my friends are classless enough to watch Teen Mom 2, so I might need to call on some of you to discuss some things with (Jenelle is a monster beyotch who raises my blood pressure, Kailyn's baby is fugly, and please let baby Ali be okay!).

In any case, today is a very special day.  It is the first birthday of my favorite little person:

sweet Judebug

I know it's a little blurry, but it's the cutest picture ever so it's the one I had to share.  Jude Freitag is the most shining example of humankind.  He's cuddly, handsome, he never cries, and well, he's pretty much the dreamiest guy around.  I can't wait to celebrate with him!  And I'm also in denial that he is a whole year old.  Geez Louise.

And speaking of kids growing up too fast, check out this pic that Marianne sent me of my favorite celebritot:

Oh Suri and your pink Uggs.
Please tell me that's hot chocolate in your Starbucks cup!

My love for Suri Cruise might be unexplainable, but it's steadfast.  Look at my girl gettin' all big!  Before we know it, she'll be spotted in hotel rooms with famous-haired tweens.  I'm getting old . . .

Friday I'm in Love!

I've got a new shoe crush and it's taken hold of me.  Evidently, Rihanna and I have the same taste in Louboutins.  The one pair I own, she owned first (damn her!).  And now, she's bested me again, cause she has the Christian Louboutin Misfit 150s!  Thus begins my Friday I'm in Love post with

1. These Loubs:

other things I love about this photo: Vogue, Rihanna, Annie Leibovitz

Believe it or not, I think I like them best in the creamy khaki color.  They're perfectly dramatic in black, but maybe a little too goth for me.  But the lighter color?  HOLY MOTHER.  I've fallen hard.  They're only $1500, so I only need to take 862 more babysitting jobs to get my paws on them!

2. Snooki's book being on the New York Times best seller list.

Don't believe me?  Click here.

Did I just order this book from amazon?  Why yes, yes I did.  What can I say, I love to read. ;)

(What I'm not in love with: that I have $80K of student loans and an MFA in Creative Writing and yet Snooki's book is on the best seller list).

3. FREE SNOOKI
That moments after Snooki was hauled off by the cops and taken to the slammer, JWOWW was sporting one of these:

In case you've forgotten some of Snooki's finer moments, here's a little reminder:

4. Jude + Tim Riggins

Jude is nobody's fool, and damn straight he's paying homage to the fact that Tim Riggins has been released from jail and is back in Dillon, Texas!  Let's just say my Wednesday nights have gotten a little brighter (uh--hotter) now that Timmy's back on Friday Night Lights.

welcome home, baby.
tell me, what kinds of things did you miss while you were in prison?

Hope the rest of you have had a lovely week and have fun weekend plans.  I finally have a day off on Sunday (!!!) so let's just say the world is my oyster.  Happy weekend!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

It's time for a Friday I'm in Love post . . .

I'm learning the meaning of the phrase "no rest for the weary" better than ever before.  Between teaching, several babysitting jobs, and a freelance editing gig I took on this week cause, well, I need to make up for all my Christmas spending somehow!  Throw in a visit to the DMV, a couple holiday parties, and staying up till 2 am baking cookies to bring to said parties . . . and you got one exhausted girl.

So what better day to focus on what I'm in love with???

1. My Christmas tree.
I already showed you pictures.  I can't get enough of it.  All I want to do is sit on my couch and gaze at it.  It's made me happier than anything this month.

2.  Calories.
Also can't get enough.  Christmas cookies, egg nog, dinners out with friends.  I really gotta get this in check . . . but that's not gonna happen till after the holidays.  Cause look at the cookies I invented and baked last night!!!  Seriously SO GOOD.  They're chocolate chocolate cookies with crushed Andes mint cookies and topped with little bits of candy cane.  Amazing, right??

3. The fact that Snooki is going be inside the ball that drops in Times Square on NYE.

Read about it here.

3.  This jacket

Heehee just kidding.  But would you believe that atrocity costs $700??

Happy Friday!  I'm off to a work holiday party . . . I may not have an ugly Christmas sweater, but I have delish cookies and an enviable gift exchange present!

Jingle all the way?

It's December 1st, y'all!  Which means that watching cheesy Christmas movies and listening to Christmas albums in the kitchen is totally acceptable now.  And Christmas cards!  I'm so excited.  I've already bought mine and can't wait to write them and send 'em out!

Last night I celebrated December Eve by knitting a scarf and watching Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Have I mentioned the massive crush I had on Macaulay Culkin as a kid?  My childhood BFF Susanne and I took pictures of ourselves with just a scarf wrapped around our (non) chests when we were around 11 or 12 and mailed them to Macaulay.  Ohhhhhh childhood fantasies.  Gone awry. ;)

And then my sister and I saw him in a tiny coffee shop in London once!  I stared into my latte and nervously debated saying something but just couldn't bring myself to bust out with "Hey Macaulay!  My Girl changed my life!  I am Vada Sultenfuss!"

the golden days

sometimes good things go very wrong

In any case, it seems all I want to do is rock out to Xmas tunes and watch festive movies.  And beg y'all for gift ideas since my brother-in-law and stepdad are so dang hard to shop for!

But there is one thing stopping me.  This, ladies and gentlemen, is a just-snapped picture of my desk:

And it's not even finals yet.

Oscar the Grouch

That's who I feel like today.  Are the rest of you feeling like it was so dang hard to go back to work bright & early this morning after several days off?  I spent the majority of the Thanksgiving break in my snuggie on my couch with hot coffee/hot cider/etc. watching football/knitting/etc.  When my alarm went off at 6 am this morning, I felt like someone had just threatened my life.  I told my 2nd period kiddos today that three days off was not enough to start missing them.  Ha. (I wasn't kidding).

These factors are contributing to my Oscar the Grouch state:

1. I went for a jog yesterday and now my back is killing me;*
2. I can't find any creative, unique, and reasonable Christmas gifts.  Help me!!;
3. It was freezing this morning.  And early.  Early and freezing;
4. I have two ulcers in my mouth (bane of my existence);
5. WTF.

But here are some happy things!:
1. Micaela got married!  I've been keeping my lips sealed for the past couple weeks, but now it's official and she's announced her day-after-Thanksgiving nuptials to the world!
2. The sea salt caramel brownies I made are the best thing in the world.  Seriously, make them.  They're ridiculously good.
3. In just 20 short days I get to go home to Georgia for Christmas!
4. The Saints are playing the Falcons while I'm home in Georgia.  Rivalry!

*While on my jog/walk at Lake Merritt, I saw a dude running totally barefoot.  Now, I've heard rumors of this.  And I know they're now selling those running shoes that mimic being barefoot.  But TOTALLY BAREFOOT?  That is nutty.  Plus, there's duck poop all around the lake, geez.

Oh!  And my dear friend Cathy has a new blog!  Please check it out and follow her if you have any interest in growing your own food/healthy eating/gardening.  Or if you like to support people just starting out in the blog world. :)  I know she'd appreciate it!

Also, I heard today that this lady's wearing Reggie Bush's engagement ring:

wowzers

Check out the story here.

Srsly?

Soooooooo I'm watching Jersey Shore for the first time (where have I been, hiding under a rock??), and I have a few questions:

  Is this guy's hair serious?

"I was born and raised a guido.  It's just a lifestyle, it's being Italian, it's representing family, friends, tanning, gel, everything."

↑  Is this girl serious with her tan?  Her poof?  Her face?

"I didn't find any gorilla juiceheads . . . but as long as you have a tan and some sort of build to you, I'll give you a try."

↑ Do women actually have sex with this guy?

"I'm guessing Angelina left the swiss cheese in the car cause we all know RATS love cheese."

I'm kind of amazed that people like this exist.  But I'm pretty grateful that they do, cause they make for some damn fine tv.  My favorite quote from this website:

Hemingway. Faulkner. The Situation. What do these three have in common? Well, pretty soon all of them will have written a book.

My observations/questions from tonight's (back-to-back) episode(s):
  • Snooki is 4'9"
  • Angelina's right; "The Situation" really does look like he's "f---ing 40 years old."
  • Why do all these girls have long black hair?
  • I would love to run into one of these bros at a gym.

I gotta get myself to New Jersey to do some research.  I want to see people like this in their natural habitats.

It's Gettin' Hot in Here

Have y'all seen these photos of Heidi and Seal from US Magazine's exclusive?  They come from Seal's new video, Secret, about which Seal says:  "The song, the movie, it's the story of our love."

I mean, WHOA.  Not only are these pictures so incredibly sensual, but I just think their love story is convincing.  Like, I totally buy it.  I know that relationships aren't usually as perfect as couples make them out to be in the public eye--magazines, blogs, interviews, etc.--but for some reason, I just totally believe that Heidi and Seal are happy.  (And I'd venture to guess that they have an electric sex life).

Heidi says: "My husband is what I've always wanted, and never thought I would have."

Oh how I want to feel that way.

Isn't it amazing how even supermodels--specifically, one of the prettiest women in the world--ever believed that she wouldn't find true love?  I guess it's something that most human beings share: the fear of never feeling totally completed, balanced; never finding our perfect (or nearly perfect) match.

Damn, they look hot together.

Twins.

Remember this post?  Well, I have another one.  Tonight, while watching One Tree Hill (instead of doing my transcription/writing), I was once again struck with the realization that Clay, aka Robert Buckley, looks exactly like Ben, aka Scott Speedman, from Felicity:

Can you guess which two are Speedman and which two are Buckley??

Top and bottom left: Buckley (Clay from One Tree Hill).  Top and bottom right: Speedman (Ben from Felicity).  Crazy, right?  And both deliciously hot.  Which one do you prefer?  Scott Speedman would be my pick, although of course I prefer him at his scruffiest:

Smoldering.

Okay, break's over, back to work!

p.s. Felicity was the greatest show in the world and Ben had the sexiest voice in the world.

Who dat say they gonna beat them Saints?!

It was already a good week starting Sunday, which I got to spend with some of my favorite boys (big and small).  But then came Monday, and since I'm a

my happiness quadrupled!  You see, the Saints/49ers was a big game out here in the Bay . . . it was not only the 49ers' home opener, but they played against the defending Superbowl champs (aka my favorite team).  And what a freakin' game it was!  22-22 in the last five seconds . . . but the Saints managed a win at the end, even without Reggie Bush.  I can't believe he's gonna be out for up to six weeks!  Speaking of Reggie, I have become mesmerized with this picture of him and his ex, Kim Kardashian, that I recently stumbled upon:

hotttttt x 2

Also:

1. Lots of travel coming up!  More deets later, but it's looking like 4 trips in the next two months (including one to my beloved New Orleans)!
2. I made veggie black bean chili & jalapeno cheddar bread for din last night, and it was a-mazing.  I suddenly remembered that my friend & former roommate, Brenna, used to make this delicious chili from her South Beach cookbook, so I went on the hunt for the recipe.  Posted below!
3. I got a very out-of-the-blue message from an old friend (read: exboyfriend) Sunday night announcing that he was on a road trip across the country and happened to be sitting in a bar in San Francisco.  WILD, right?  We met for lunch the next day at Luna Park, and it was fun/spontaneous/nostalgic catching up.  (Also, felt very mature to talk and laugh with an ex without being emotional or dramatic).
4. Strangely, my 2nd period hellions have been on their best behavior!  I don't know what's in the water they're drinkin but I'm lovin it.
5. I've finally been working out again which always makes me feel better.

Hope your week has been just as good as mine, and if not, then make this chili (but word to the wise: double the black beans and add fresh corn):

Serves 6
Ingredients
Avocado salsa:
1 medium California avocado, peeled, pitted, and finely chopped
1 small tomato, finely chopped
1/4 red onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
Juice of 1 large lime
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Vegetarian chili:
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
3/4 can (14 to 19 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
3/4 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes (with juice)
3/4 can (14 ounces) vegetable broth
1 can (4 ounces) green chili peppers, chopped
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 cup fat-free sour cream
1 lime, quartered
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
12 whole-wheat pita crisps (Phase 2 or 3)
Instructions
To make the avocado salsa:
In a large bowl, combine the avocado, tomato, onion, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, cumin, and pepper. Lightly toss. Let stand for 30 minutes.
To make the vegetarian chili: Meanwhile, heat the oil in a 6-quart Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook, stirring frequently, for 3 minutes. Add the beans, tomatoes (with juice), broth, chili peppers, chili powder, garlic, cumin, and oregano. Simmer for 20 minutes. Serve with the avocado salsa, sour cream, and lime wedges. Sprinkle with the cilantro. Serve the pita crisps on the side, if using.

how much do they look alike??

And who's your pick?

Javier Bardem/Jeffrey Dean Morgan

I gotta say--they're both hot, but my pick is Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Maybe that's cause Denny Duquette is the single most adorable character in the history of television. Speaking of which, why's he always gotta be dead in his shows??

Can you tell how excited I am about Eat, Pray, Love?
