Indian Government may ban Gmail in India

Indian Government may ban Gmail in India... Unbelievable ? but it might happen if Gmail does not agree to make data going through their networks available to the Indian security agencies in a readable format. The data services being offered by companies like Gmail and Skype are highly encrypted because of which Indian security agencies are finding it difficult to keep a watch over the content being transmitted through them.

The Government has also decided to amend the IT laws would force companies such as Skype to give complete access to their networks or set up a local server in India to allow security agencies to track content.

After China-made telecommunication equipment, after bringing the satellite-based mobile communication services under tighter security norms, it probably time for internet.

Quick tools to test your internet speed

Many of the ISPs (Internet Service Providers) continue to describe their services in terms of kilobits (kbps), rather than using kilobytes (KBps) or megabytes (MBps).

This makes it easy for potential customers to compare transfer rates against their existing dial-up modems.

A dial-up modem is capable of speeds close to 56 kbps, line noise, network traffic and other interference can cut data transfer speed significantly. Under the best circumstances, a 56 kbps modem will generally operate at about 53 kbps or 6 KB/sec. Below are some conversions that might help when looking at high-speed ISP.

Understanding kbps will no doubt become handy in determining the best value for your money when switching ISPs.

Also there are some new quick tools which could help to check your actual connection speed. Testing your connection will tell you if you are getting the speed promised by your Internet service provider.

1. SpeedTest.net : This is a free broadband speed analysis tool that allows anyone to test their Internet connection. During an online speed test the website will send your computer a file and then measure how long it takes to download. It performs three key measurements checks to determine the overall quality and performance of your Internet connection. Click here to open the html page.

2. Pingtest.net : Use Pingtest.net to determine the quality of your broadband Internet connection. Streaming media, voice, video communications, and online gaming require more than just raw speed. Test your connection now to get your Pingtest.net rating and share the result with others.

If you hack Google, Google will hack you back

This seems to be the message Google gave back to the Chinese hackers in the recent cyber attack. Recently when Google was attacked by a group of Chinese hackers it began a secret counteroffensive of breaking into the computers of the hackers and gathering evidence of the origin of these attacks and other relevant information.

Google's delta force found evidence that the hackers had attacked 33 other companies, like Adobe, Symantec., and that the onslaught actually came from Mainland China and not Taiwan. As per Google the evidence also suggest that a primary goal of the attackers was accessing the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists, however the hackers were not successful.

The sophistication of the these attacks strongly suggests support from Chinese government agencies. With this incident Google announced that it will no longer censor search results on Google.cn and they will maintain this stance, even if it ends in shutting down Google.cn.

What Google thinks about its competitors

"Don't be evil" has always been the motto of Google. However ever wondered what the mighty Google thinks about other companies? especially its rivals? Although Google does not officially share its view on its competitors but a small Google search would spill the beans.

I tried using Google search on few companies like Yahoo, Microsoft, FaceBook & Google itself and below are some screen shots of the results... Try it out for yourself.

However Google claims that the search suggestions are obtained by only comparing your partial query with popular searches on the net.. Hey if you find some more interesting results do share it with me.

The top two most powerfull bombs are with the Russians and United States of America

1. MOAB or the The GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb (nicknamed Mother Of All Bombs) is developed for the United States military.

Weighing in at 21,000 pounds, the MOAB is packed with some 18,000 pounds of a gelled slurry of ammonium nitrate and powdered aluminum that is detonated by a highly explosive booster.
