HTC Desire launched in India at Rs.28,900

HTC Desire, after a wait and hiatus of over 6 months is launched in India. The sibling of Google Nexus One, HTC Desire is launched in collaboration with Tata DoCoMo. Desire is the latest smartphones from HTC that is quite similar to Google Nexus One in features and performance. This is due to it being based on Andoird 2.1 operating system and same 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It is yet to be updated to Froyo. The HTC Desire was introduced at Mobile World Congress 2010 and it has taken time to come to India. It was very much awaited in the country despite the delay and its enormous price tag (MOP) of Rs.28,900 In India.

The HTC Desire boasts of 3.7-inch AMOLED display found on the Nexus One and comes with HTC's Sense UI. The Desire also gets slightly more RAM and has 576MB of RAM as opposed to the Nexus One's 512MB. Desire performs video recording at WVGA resolution (800*480) at 15fps. HTC Desire has an optical track-pad and physical buttons. For Indian users,the Desire comes with a FM radio option .

There is a 5 megapixel camera and the support for multi touch gestures. Tata DOCOMO post-paid customers will have to SMS 'Android' to 54321 from their HTC Desire to get facility of downloading 500 MB of data per month for free, for a period of 6 months.The smartphone HTC Desire will be available at all authorized HTC resellers across the country
