The new Volkswagen Touareg to be introduced soon in India

World's auto major, Volkswagen is mulling over to introduce the new second generation model of Volkswagen Touareg soon in India. However, the company has not yet officially announced the launch of new Touareg in India, but as per some auto news sources, the new Volkswagen Touareg is believed to be launched in the Indian auto market in the end of this current calender year or early next year. The second generation Massive SUV comes with more fuel efficiency compared from its already existing model in the country. Volkswagen is allows to import the new version of Volkswagen Touareg with the options of V6 petrol, V8 petrol and the V8 diesel engine. Right now, has not been made clear that which model will come first in the auto market.

The company currently selling a large numbers of popular cars in India that includes Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Phaeton, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento and Volkswagen Passat. All the model of the company are getting wonderful attention from the Indian buyers. The new version of Volkswagen Touareg might be launched with advanced attributes to make it more classy and comfy. On the other hand, Volkswagen is also intending to introduce the Touareg SUV in Hybrid version in the International auto markets.

New Volkswagen Polo 1.6 launched in India

Volkswagen India seems to be all roses and no guns as the company is expanding its presence in India like never before. The largest car manufacturer of Europe launched its powerful 1.6 l Polo variant today after the successful entry of 1.2 l Volkswagen Polo in the Indian subcontinent early this year. This hot hatchback has been priced at Rs. 6.16 lakhs, ex showroom New Delhi. The car would be available in an highline petrol version in India.

This all variant of Volkswagen Polo comes with a 1.6 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine giving an output of 105PS @ 5250 rpm delivering a torque of 153NM @ 3750 rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual gear box and has a fuel efficiency of 15.96 km/litre. On the exteriors, the Polo continues to sport the body colored bumpers, chrome strip in front grille, body coloured outside door handles and mirrors, a galvanized body with 6 years anti-corrosion warranty and 15 inch alloy wheels.

Volkswagen launches the New Vento starting with Rs 6.99 lakhs*

Volkswagen, Europe’s largest car maker launched it’s much awaited entry level premium sedan the Vento today.

The Vento will be available to customers starting at Rs 6.99 lakhs, for the 1.6 litre petrol variant and Rs. 7.99 lakhs for the diesel variant, Ex.Showroom New Delhi.

Speaking about Volkswagen’s market introduction of the Vento, Mr. Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd said, “The New Vento, which stands for best in class features and German engineering is poised to set a benchmark in its segment. Designed for the Indian market it will be a strong addition to our product portfolio.



Adding further he said, “The New Vento is an extension of our commitment towards the Indian consumers of providing the best quality products at competitive prices.”

The New Vento will go on sale from September 6, 2010 across India in all Volkswagen dealers. The petrol variant of the Vento is equipped with a 1.6 litre engine with
an output of 105PS @ 5250 rpm and a Torque of 153NM @ 3800 rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gear box and boast of fuel efficiency of 15.83 Km/l and 14.4Km/l respectively.

The diesel variant is also equipped with the 1.6 litre engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, with an output of 105PS @ 4400 rpm and a Torque of 250 NM @ 1500-2500 rpm and has a fuel efficiency of 20.54 Km/l.

The New Volkswagen Vento will be available in two trim levels including Trendline, Highline.

The interior is equipped with storage compartment in front doors for 1 litre Bottles, sunglass storage inside glove box, foldable roof handles with coat hooks, front and rear centre armrest, cupholders and “Livon” fabric upholstery are proof of the sure instinct of high design quality which interprets the classic elements of the Vento in a contemporary way. Volkswagen starts Production of the Vento from its Pune Plant in India

Volkswagen India began production of its much anticipated mid-sized sedan, the Volkswagen Vento last evening at its plant in Chakan near Pune. Vento is the first car from the Volkswagen brand which has been designed keeping in mind the special needs of Indian customers and will be exclusively manufactured in India. The time-frame leading up to the official start of production of the Volkswagen Vento is unusual as it is only a year since the Volkswagen plant at Chakan started production.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Joerg Mueller, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President and Managing Director Volkswagen India Private Limited, said, “India is a strategic long-term growth market for the Volkswagen Group. The start of production of the Vento is more than just the roll-out of a car. Not only does it mark another milestone in our journey together into a successful future for the Volkswagen Group but also reiterates Volkswagen’s commitment to India. In fact, in the last 3 years, the Volkswagen Group has launched a new model in India every two months which reflects our strong belief in the potential of the market here.”



Volkswagen aims to achieve a market share of eight to ten percent in the next four to six years with the three Volkswagen Group brands, Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen through ambitious plans for India. The Vento is the 18th model from the Volkswagen Group in India of which 3 are fully produced (in Pune) and 8 are assembled (in Aurangabad). Mr Mueller added, “These products – and in particular the Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento – will help Volkswagen increase its market share in this rapidly growing market significantly. Volkswagen is also in line with the planned ramp-up curve of achieving the full annual production capacity of 110,000 cars at the plant by end 2011.” A month ago the second shift was introduced and there was an increase in the number of employees to more than 2000 to satisfy the continuously high demand for the Polo and the expected additional demand for the Vento.

Vento is a complete made in India car with the longest wheel-base in the premium mid-size sedan segment making it exceedingly comfortable for the rear-seated passengers- a need for most Indian customers in this segment. After launching its compact car Polo in February this year, the Vento is Volkswagen’s second car targeting the mass market. It will be positioned at the upper-end of the country's mid-sized sedan segment. With the introduction of the Vento, Volkswagen will now offer cars to suit the needs of all kinds of customers in India.

Volkswagen also announced the introduction of a second shift of production of the Polo. With a total financial commitment amounting to Rs. 3,800 crores (580 million Euros), the Volkswagen plant in Pune is the largest investment to date by a German company in India.

Vishnu Prasad Wins 1st Race in Round 2 of Volkswagen-JK Tyre Polo Cup India 2010 at Coimbatore

Vishnu Prasad, the 17 year old driver from Chennai, today won the 1st race in Round 2 of the Volkswagen-JK Tyre Polo Cup India 2010 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. The racer from Chennai led from start to finish in the 20 lap race as he became only the second winner of the Polo Cup today. He completed the race in 27 minutes and 57.043 seconds covered a total of 42 kilometres. He was followed home closely by Sahil Shelar from Pune and Karthik Shankar from Hyderabad. Championship leader Sailesh Bolisetti finished in a competitive 4th position after starting in 6th place. Most impressive today was the only woman on the grid, Alisha Abdullah who finished in 6th position after starting in 13th position. Vishnu had a great start and led comfortably with Sahil Shelar and Kathik Shankar close behind him. Sailesh Bolisetti made a brilliant overtaking move to pass Mohammed Fahad Kutty for 4th position on lap 11. The safety car came out on lap 12 after Suraj Bhagat stopped on track at the second corner due to a collision.



It was back to racing when the safety car veered back into the pits with five laps to go. Vishnu had no trouble picking up from where he left off and crossed the chequered flag to win his first race in the Volkswagen-JK Tyre Polo Cup in India 2010. Mr. K K Swamy Vice-President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private. Limited, commented, "Today marked the first time the Race Polos raced on an actual race track. It was thrilling to see a change in the rankings from debut race in Pune, the hometown Volkswagen. It was also fantastic to see the sole woman racer in the series, Ms Alisha Abdullah, finish in the top 6." A delighted Vishnu expressed, "I had a great first race today. And I would like to thank Volkswagen for organising the event and the technical expertise from the coaches.



Although I had few bad starts, it was a close race right till the end, and I fought hard to keep my 1st position." Second placed Sahil said, "This is my first time on the podium and I hope to be back here after the second race this afternoon. I am looking forward to starting in the reverse grid, it should make for a very interesting race." Third placed Karthik commented, "It feels good to be back on the podium, for he third time. My focus remains on the championship and I hope to be on the podium as often as I can." There were a host of dignitaries present for Round 2 of the Volkswagen-JK Tyre Polo Cup in India. Volkswagen announce the launch of its new Vento in India

World's major auto maker, Volkswagen Automobiles has launched its long awaited Volkswagen Vento in the Indian auto market on 6th July 2010. The all new Vento will be available for grabs by the last quarter of the current calendar year 2010. It has been launched in both Diesel and Petrol variants in the country. The car is comes loaded with the same engine as available in Volkswagen Polo i.e. 1.6 L petrol that produces a torque of 153 nm while the Diesel engine will have a thumping torque of 250 nm. The petrol version would be available in a 6 speed automatic transmission in addition to the 5 speed manual transmission.



The all new Volkswagen Vento would be comes at an attractive price tag of around 7 to 9 lakh. The interiors of the car throw light on the passion for detail of the Volkswagen team as some of the interesting features include a tilt, adjustable steering, height adjustable front seats, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, climate control air conditioning system, a multi-functional display and many more.
