In a bid to capture the ever-growing handset market in India, now Bharti will also enter with the brand name “Beetel”. Initially, its 8 models will be launched in the range of Rs 1,750-7,000 in Delhi, Ha¬ryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Rajasthan, Punjab and seven northeastern states. The mobiles will be sold through its own 4000
outlets. The phones will give competition to various Indian brands that are selling cheap mobiles in India and making profits as the business has grown up to 30% in India.
Till now, Bharti Airtel is India’s number one mobile service provider with more than 140 million subscribers and it also acquired Zain Telecom of Africa to expand its footprint in 16 countries. The company has plans to offer the right mix of feature-rich phones at affordable prices and become one of the top five in the business in the coming next five years. Handsets will be made outside India while innovation will be done here in the country itself. India is one of the fastest growing markets with annual shipments of about 130 million mobile devices.
